“I’m a 47 year old man, and I was fit and healthy, playing hockey, judo and running 5k every other day up until I had a motorcycle accident 13 months ago. This left me with multiple fractures in my leg and subsequently a lot of metalwork and several surgeries. After a year I was making very little progress due to persistent pain and swelling, until my physiotherapist recommended Waders as there was no longer any local hydrotherapy available. Although I still have several issues with the leg that need resolving, the improvement in strength and balance is noticeable after just 3 sessions. I was unable to do a lot of my physiotherapy exercises, such as heel raises, on dry land, but the buoyancy in the pool allows me to work on it. I’ve even gained the confidence to join a health club and have a pool exercise session every few days.”

“I’ve been going to waders in Laindon for about a month now. I suffer from fibromyalgia and  back problems and I have anxiety and depression. This group is helping with all the pain and is also a lovely relaxed group that is helping my well being.”

“When I started W.A.D.E.R.S. at the beginning of the year, I was very nervous and unsure of the water. I needed to hold onto the side of the pool. Several months later, I am now able to walk the width of the pool with no help or fear. I feel so much better after the sessions and more confident. As a young lady of 70 plus, it’s a wonderful feeling.”

“I feel that Waders has helped to keep me mobile. I don’t know how I would have coped without it.”

“Before I began Waders I was nervous about carrying out any exercise, but our instructor Ankie gave me expert advice through her knowledge and experience, which gave me the confidence I needed for preparing myself to get back to work.”

“Ankie is a reassurance to those worried about their disability.”

“Feel I can safely exercise with physio in the pool.”

“I like the nice friendly atmosphere.”

“Look forward to every Friday.”
